Australasian Virtual Herbarium

Australian and New Zealand herbaria house over eight million plant, algae and fungi specimens. Herbarium specimens are an important resource for research on the Australasian flora and provide a permanent record of the occurrence of a species at a particular place and time. The AVH provides access to the collecting data associated with these specimens.

BISH

Bernice P. Bishop Museum, USA

The Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, designated the Hawaiʻi State Museum of Natural and Cultural History, is a museum of history and science located in the Kalihi district of Honolulu on the Hawaiian island of O'ahu. Founded in 1889, it is the largest museum in Hawai'i and is home to one of the world's largest collections of natural history material from the Pacific region, with approximately 21 million specimens. The main collections include Entomology, Malacology, Botany, Ichthyology, Vertebrate Zoology (Birds, Mammals, Amphibians and Reptiles) and Marine Invertebrates. Bishop Museum is in the process of dramatically improving its digital resources, and is actively involved in the development of biodiversity information standards and associated services (particularly the Global Names Architecture).

MOBOT-MO

Missouri Botanical Garden, USA

The Missouri Botanical Garden's Herbarium is one of the world's outstanding research resources for specimens and information on bryophytes and vascular plants. The collection is limited to these two major groups of plants. As of 2018 the collection has nearly 7 million specimens. It is the second largest herbarium in the United States and one of the largest in the world.

National Tropical Botanical Garden

Institution known as Pacific Tropical Botanical Garden through 1988. All types have been scanned and are online at JSTOR Plants. Currently all specimens are being databased and digitized all collections with funding from the National Science Foundation.

National University of Samoa

The National University of Samoa (Le Iunivesite Aoao o Samoa) is the only national university in Samoa. The university houses a small collection of herbarium specimens used in teaching botany.
Established in 1984 by an act of parliament, it is coeducational and provides certificate, diploma, and undergraduate degree programs, as well as technical and vocational training. About 2,000 students were enrolled in 2010 with an estimated 300 staff. It offers a wide range of programmes including Arts, Business and Entrepreneurship, Education, Science, Nursing, Engineering and Maritime Training. The Centre for Samoan Studies, established in the university for the teaching of the Samoan language and culture, offers undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as the world's first degree in Master of Samoan Studies.
